A special search operation was conducted at Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) in Katunayake today (3), following intelligence received from India regarding the possible arrival of six suspects allegedly linked to the recent Pahalgam terror attack in Kashmir.

Police said the alert indicated the suspects may have been aboard SriLankan Airlines flight UL 122 from Chennai, which landed at BIA at approximately 11.59 a.m. on Saturday.

The operation, prompted by Indian intelligence, was carried out jointly by the Sri Lanka Police, the Sri Lanka Air Force, and airport security personnel.

However, airport authorities confirmed that the aircraft was thoroughly inspected and no suspicious individuals were found to have entered the country via the flight.
