Six students from the Faculty of Technology at the University of Sri Jayewardenepura have been suspended after allegedly assaulting a second-year student.

Deputy Vice-Chancellor Professor Padmalal M. Manange stated that the attack was reportedly carried out as retaliation against the victim’s opposition to ragging.

The student is currently receiving treatment at Weligama Hospital.

Investigations are underway following a complaint lodged by the victim with the Homagama Police, with efforts ongoing to apprehend the suspects involved.
