Inspector General of Police (IGP) Deshabandu Tennakoon has been officially summoned to appear before the Committee of Inquiry on 19 May 2025.

The Committee, tasked with investigating allegations of gross abuse of power against the IGP, has convened several times at the Parliament premises in recent weeks. This marks the first time that Tennakoon has been formally requested to be present for the proceedings.

The Committee was established to inquire into and report its findings on alleged misconduct by the IGP. Tennakoon’s appearance is expected to be a key step in the ongoing investigation.
