The Right to Information Commission (RTIC) has reportedly issued a formal notice to the Presidential Secretariat for failing to provide information within the stipulated timeframe under the Right to Information (RTI) Act.

The notice has been issued in connection with appeal number RTIC/Appeal/405/2025, which relates to a request for details regarding the personal and support staff of President Anura Kumara Dissanayake who are paid with public funds. The request made by journalist Rahul Samantha Hettiarachchi sought information on salaries, allowances, and vehicles allocated to these individuals.

Despite more than two months having passed since the request was submitted, the requested information has not been released.

The information requested includes the number of individuals employed under the current President’s staff, their respective designations, the total monthly expenditure on their salaries and allowances, and the number and types of official vehicles provided.

The RTI Commission has summoned representatives from the Presidential Secretariat to appear and explain the delay in responding.
