Ramith Rambukwella, son of former Health Minister Keheliya Rambukwella, was arrested today (21 May) by the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC).
He was taken into custody after appearing before the Commission to provide a statement, following a court order issued yesterday (20 May) permitting authorities to name him as a suspect in an ongoing corruption investigation linked to his father.
Meanwhile, Colombo Chief Magistrate Thanuja Lakmali yesterday ordered former Minister Keheliya Rambukwella to be remanded until 3 June. The decision was made after considering submissions from both CIABOC and the defence counsel.
The former minister, currently in remand custody, was arrested in connection with three corruption complaints filed by CIABOC and was presented before the Colombo Magistrate’s Court by prison authorities.
