Deputy Minister of Defence Aruna Jayasekera announced today (22 May) in Parliament that, starting this year, only cadet officers and foreign students will be eligible for admission to the medical faculty of the General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University (KDU).

Speaking in Parliament, the minister clarified that the recent notice regarding student admissions for the 2025–2026 academic year had included provisions that required correction.

He said that the admission opportunity to KDU’s medical faculty will henceforth be limited exclusively to cadet officers and international students.
