Student’s Suicide Attempt After Alleged Ragging: Four Arrested at Kuliyapitiya Technical College

Four students of the Kuliyapitiya Technical College have been arrested in connection with an incident where a first-year female student attempted to take her own life.

The incident occurred yesterday (2 June) during the afternoon, when the student reportedly jumped into a lake close to the college premises. Bystanders at the scene were able to rescue her, and she was immediately admitted to the Kuliyapitiya Hospital.

According to police investigations, it has been revealed that the student’s suicide attempt was linked to a ragging incident.

She is currently receiving treatment at the Kuliyapitiya Hospital, and it is reported that her condition is not critical.

Following an inquiry into the incident, the Kuliyapitiya Police have arrested four students from the technical college believed to be involved in the ragging.

Further investigations are currently underway.
