67 Petitions Filed Challenging 22nd Amendment

A total of 67 petitions have been filed before the Supreme Court challenging the 22nd Amendment to the Constitution Bill, including 41 submitted online.

Meanwhile, five petitions have been filed challenging the Judicature (Amendment) Bill presented to Parliament.

Chief Justice Preethi Padman Surasena has appointed a five-judge Supreme Court bench to consider the petitions.

The petitions are scheduled to be taken up before the Supreme Court at 10 a.m. today (1).
