Ramzi Tony, a Colombo Municipal Councillor representing the United National Party (UNP), says he cannot in good conscience vote in favour of Reeza Zarook’s candidacy for Mayor of Colombo under the Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) ticket.

In a letter addressed to the General Secretary of the United National Party (UNP), Tony explained that he is fully aware of the public perception surrounding Reeza Zarook and, therefore, cannot support him for the mayoralty of Colombo.

He further stressed that if the UNP and SJB proceed to nominate Reeza Zarook without putting forward a more acceptable candidate, he will be forced to vote against him or abstain from voting when the matter is put to a vote.
