Sri Lanka’s trusted household brand SOORYA ignited the Youth Top 40 Awards 2025, presented by New Generation Sri Lanka. The award was won by University of Kelaniya alumna Anudi Gunasekera — the current Miss Sri Lanka for Miss World — at a ceremony held last night at Shangri-La Hotel, Colombo.

Anudi Gunasekera is a past pupil of Anuradhapura Central College and holds a BA (Hons) degree in International Relations and Affairs. Anudi is a model, beauty queen and social activist. She was crowned Miss World Sri Lanka 2024 and represented the country at the 72nd Miss World pageant in Hyderabad in 2025.

Anudi is the founder of Saheli Sri Lanka, a non-profit organisation which aims to combat period poverty in the country.

Gowri Rajan, Director of Sun Match Company, said: “The youth are the future of Sri Lanka, and we are delighted that Anudi was among the Top 40 awardees, securing two awards — including Soorya Provincial Winner for North Central Province. We have been supporting the New Generation Awards since their inception, and it’s been a wonderful experience to celebrate the top talent of our youth.”

Dr. Sulochana Segera, Founder of New Generation Sri Lanka, added: “We celebrate not just accomplishments, but also qualities such as character, compassion, and courage. Our youth require inspiration that is grounded in local values while embracing a global perspective — and that is precisely what this award embodies.”
