Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) MP Ramanathan Archchuna today (30) made a special statement in Parliament regarding the controversial release of 323 cargo containers, expressing his willingness to reveal full details about the shipments — but only if the government guarantees he will not face false criminal charges in retaliation.
Addressing the House, Archchuna claimed he is in possession of a detailed list of items contained in the 323 released containers, including their contents and countries of origin. However, he asserted that he fears being falsely accused and imprisoned under fabricated charges if he discloses the information without legal protection.
“There is already a court case filed to remove me from my parliamentary seat. That’s something I’ll deal with legally. But I’m afraid… I can give the list of what was inside those 323 containers, where they came from, everything. But before that, those people [the government] must guarantee they won’t use it to strip me of my MP position and frame me in a drug case,” he said during his statement.
He added that he is ready to present the list in Parliament or even release it abroad if necessary. “I’m not afraid to say what was in those 320 containers. I know every detail. But I am afraid… not of death, but of being targeted unjustly. These people are hitting me with bogus cases one after another. They now control the police, and their aim is to silence me by removing me from Parliament and stopping the truth from coming out.”
