The National Transport Commission (NTC) has announced that a final decision on revising bus fares, following the latest fuel price increase, will be made within the next two days.

NTC Director General Naomi Jayawardena stated that the Commission will convene soon to determine the new fare structure. She added that although the annual bus fare revision was initially scheduled to take effect today (1 July), it has been temporarily withheld due to the revised fuel prices.

On 30 June, the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC) announced a fuel price hike, effective from 1 July. Accordingly, the price of Petrol 92 Octane was increased by Rs. 12 to Rs. 305 per litre, Auto Diesel by Rs. 15 to Rs. 289 per litre, and Kerosene by Rs. 7 to Rs. 185 per litre. Prices of Petrol 95 Octane and Super Diesel remain unchanged.
