Opposition to Bring NCM Against Speaker Asoka Ranwala?

The main opposition in Parliament, the Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB), is considering the possibility of bringing a No-Confidence Motion (NCM) against Speaker Asoka Ranwala over his PhD controversy.

The SJB will make a final decision after holding discussions with other parties in Parliament.

A public outcry arose following allegations that Speaker Ranwala had not provided accurate information about his educational qualifications, particularly regarding the doctorate he claimed to have.

The government stated that the Speaker will address the matter in the coming days.
