A delegation representing TikTok met with Prime Minister’s Secretary Pradeep Saputhanthri yesterday (16) at the Prime Minister’s Office for a discussion focused on expanding the use of the platform beyond entertainment.

The meeting centred on how TikTok could be leveraged as a digital tool to broaden economic opportunities and support educational activities. According to a statement issued by the Prime Minister’s Media Division, TikTok representatives highlighted the importance of responsible use of digital technology, the creation of economic opportunities through the platform, and the inclusion of proper mechanisms, research, and curricular reforms to strengthen digital education.

Prime Minister’s Secretary Saputhanthri, appreciating such collaborations in line with ongoing reforms in the education sector, underscored the need to accelerate digitalisation processes in the country.

The discussion was attended by Ferdous Al Mottakin, company’s Head of Government Relations and Head of Public Affairs for South Asia, as well as several additional secretaries from the Prime Minister’s Office.
