The Colombo Magistrate’s Court has rejected an anticipatory bail application filed by former Minister Rajitha Senaratne, who sought release on bail in anticipation of being arrested by the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption.

The order was issued by Colombo Chief Magistrate Thanuja Lakmali Jayatunga after considering submissions made by both the petitioner’s legal counsel and officials from the Bribery Commission.

Senaratne had requested anticipatory bail, citing the possibility of imminent arrest by the Bribery Commission. However, the court ruled against the application after reviewing the facts presented by both parties.
