A small DIMO Batta lorry transporting 39 coffins in an unsafe manner was seized by the Panadura Traffic Division yesterday (28), and its driver was taken into custody, police said.

The lorry, which belongs to a coffin manufacturing establishment in Keselwatta, Panadura, was stopped and inspected by police in Wadduwa while it was travelling towards Kalutara from Panadura.

According to police, the vehicle was carrying the coffins without adhering to basic safety regulations, raising concerns about public safety and traffic violations.
