Colombo Additional Magistrate Kasun Kanchana Dasanayake yesterday (31 July) ordered the immediate arrest and production before court of a man accused of secretly recording intimate moments with his wife—a schoolteacher—and sending those videos via WhatsApp to a student studying under her.

The order was issued following a complaint made by the female teacher, a resident of the Maradana area, to the Police Children and Women’s Bureau. During the court hearing, investigating officers revealed that the suspect had recorded the private content without his wife’s knowledge.

According to submissions, the man—who is reportedly addicted to watching pornographic material—had sent the videos to one of his wife’s students after the couple had a personal dispute. The act is suspected to have been carried out with the intention of causing humiliation and distress to his wife.

Investigators also informed court that the suspect’s compulsive consumption of explicit content has led to signs of a depressive condition.

After considering the evidence and statements presented by the police, the magistrate directed the Children and Women’s Bureau to arrest the suspect immediately and produce him before court. (Courtesy: Ceylon Today)
