Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) MP Namal Rajapaksa has questioned whether the government’s policy decisions in recent months have delivered any real benefits to the people.

Addressing a public gathering, Rajapaksa accused the government of politicising every level of society.

“They have politicised everything, from youth organisations to rural funeral aid societies (Maranadhara Samithi), purely to expand the dominance of their own party. This is what they are doing,” he charged.

He further alleged that under the current political framework, citizens cannot obtain services with an MP’s letter and such letters have no value.

“In the system created by this government, an ordinary person cannot receive any service through a letter from an MP (like old days). There is no value for a letter written by an MP requesting some service on behalf of a citizen. There are no leaders willing to listen and provide solutions during People’s Days (Mahajana Dinaya), and they don’t have enough officials to address public concerns,” he said.

Namal Rajapaksa also claimed that the government has acted to hinder development activities at temples, churches, and kovils.
