A former member of the Homagama Pradeshiya Sabha succumbed to his injuries today after being shot in Meegoda earlier in the day, police confirmed.
The 46-year-old councillor was rushed to hospital following the shooting but unfortunately passed away while receiving medical treatment.
Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident, and no further details have been released at this time.
