Tollywood ‘Icon Star’ Allu Arjun has been arrested by the Hyderabad Police on Friday in connection with the tragic death of a woman in a stampede at Sandhya Theatre.
The incident took place on December 4, 2024 during the premiere of his film Pushpa 2: The Rule where a large crowd gathered to see the actor and it turned chaotic.
Hyderabad Police Commissioner CV Anand officially confirmed that Telugu actor Allu Arjun was arrested in connection with the Sandhya Theater stampede incident.
The Telangana High Court will soon hear Allu Arjun’s plea seeking quashing of the FIR.
A 35-year-old woman died and her nine-year-old son was taken to hospital due to suffocation. Following the incident, an FIR was filed against Allu Arjun, his security team and the theater management. The case was registered under sections 105 and 118 (1) of Bharatiya Naya Samhita (BNS) at Chikkadpally police station on a complaint filed by the family of the deceased woman.
On Friday, a team of police officers from Chikkadpally police station in Hyderabad visited Allu Arjun’s residence in Jubilee Hills and arrested him. He has been transferred to the police station where he will be questioned, the police said.
Allu Arjun was followed by his father-in-law, Kancharla Chandrasekhar Reddy, also at the Chikkadpally police station in Hyderabad.

The incident took place on the night of December 4 when a large crowd of fans had thronged the evening theater at the busy RTC Crossroads to catch a glimpse of the actor.
The police said that the deceased was named Revathi. She was accompanied by her son Shri Teja who is suffering from breathlessness and is currently undergoing treatment in a hospital where he is recuperating.
In response to the tragedy, Allu Arjun had earlier announced a financial assistance of Rs 25 lakh to Revathi’s family. He has since approached the Telangana High Court seeking quashing of the FIR against him. The court is going to hear his appeal soon.
