Silver screen star Yashoda Wimaladharma, brand ambassador for Soorya matchboxes and incense sticks, recently made surprise visits to some of the brand’s key retail outlets in Kurunegala, Polgahawela, and Alawwa, where she engaged directly with store owners, listening to their experiences and understanding the challenges they face.

This special outreach was part of Soorya’s ongoing commitment to nurturing strong relationships with its retail partners — the people who bring the iconic matchbox brand into the hands of everyday Sri Lankans. Retailers were delighted to welcome both company representatives and the ever-graceful Yashoda Wimaladharma, whose presence added a personal and memorable touch to the initiative.

“Retailers are the real bridge between our brand and the people. Meeting them face to face and hearing their stories has been incredibly rewarding,” said Yashoda Wimaladharma, reflecting on the visits.

Gowri Rajan, Director and Chief Marketing Officer of the company, explained the deeper purpose behind the outreach: “These visits allow us to hear what’s really happening at ground level and strengthen our promise of quality to the Sri Lankan public. We want to be a strongly grounded brand, deeply connected to both our retailers and our consumers.”

This hands-on, high-touch approach has positioned Soorya as a trailblazer in consumer engagement within the FMCG space, reminding the market that even in a digital age, real-world connection still matters — proving once again that its true strength lies not only in the products it creates, but also in the relationships it sparks.
