Former President Ranil Wickremesinghe has been summoned to appear before the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) on Friday (22) in connection with an inquiry into an overseas visit made during his presidency.
The investigation relates to a trip Wickremesinghe undertook to New York on an official visit, after which he travelled to the United Kingdom to attend a university graduation ceremony in London.
Statements regarding the matter have already been recorded from former Presidential Secretary Saman Ekanayake and Wickremesinghe’s private secretary Sandra Perera.
