Ten individuals suspected to be involved in drug trafficking were arrested along with a large cache of firearms, ammunition, narcotics, and other items during a raid carried out by the Ganemulla Police.

Police said that during a search operation in a house in Kossinna, Parakandeniya, several suspects were initially taken into custody. Following their interrogation, further information was revealed, leading to the arrest of additional suspects in the Negombo area.

Among the seized items were a repeater-type firearm, a 9mm pistol, a sword, 183 T-56 bullets, 290 rounds of 9mm ammunition, 8 shotgun cartridges, a stock of detonators, a handcuff set, a set of military uniforms, several mobile phones, 240 grams of crystal methamphetamine (ice), and a quantity of narcotic pills.

The suspects, aged between 22 and 35, are residents of Wanathamulla, Rajagiriya, Obesekarapura, Delgoda, Negombo, Katana, and Kadirana.
