Former President Ranil Wickremesinghe has been discharged from the National Hospital in Colombo after receiving treatment at the National Hospital Colombo (NHSL).
Earlier on the day, United National Party (UNP) Assistant Leader Akila Viraj Kariyawasam told the media that Wickremesinghe, who was recently transferred from the ICU to a normal ward, has shown steady improvement in his health.
Meanwhile, UNP General Secretary Thalatha Atukorale stated that all decisions regarding the former President’s health and medical care will be taken by his family.
Wickremesinghe was hospitalised shortly after being remanded in connection with an ongoing case over the alleged misuse of state funds for a private foreign trip. His health condition was cited by defence counsel during court proceedings as grounds for bail, which was subsequently granted on 22 August.
He was remained at the hospital following receiving the bail until today.
