With the release of the 2025 Grade 5 Scholarship Examination results, a heartfelt video shared by teacher and actress Lochana Isurindi has captured widespread attention on social media.

In her message, Lochana reflected on the journey of five students she taught over the past three years, expressing her pride in their achievements despite numerous challenges. She shared that her students often travelled by boat and on foot to attend a remote school and persevered through difficult conditions without complaint.

“These five children were with me from Grades 3 to 5. We lived like a family. Even during the hardest times of my life, they brought me joy. No matter how tired I was after late-night shoots, I made sure to be at school the next morning for them. They truly did justice to their hard work,” she said in her emotional note.

She also extended gratitude to the school principal, describing his dedication as “remarkable,” and thanked other teachers and parents for their unwavering support, allowing the children to grow up freely and happily.

Lochana proudly shared her students’ results, which exceeded the district cut-off mark of 136 in Ratnapura, with scores of 148, 147, 137, 132, and 127.

In her concluding remarks, she reminded the students that life does not end with the scholarship exam. “I always tell them – this is not the end. Life is where the real learning begins,” she wrote.

The video and message have been widely praised online for highlighting the resilience of rural students and the dedication of teachers who support them.
