Police have recovered more than 10 kg of narcotics, suspected to be crystal methamphetamine (‘ice’), from a house under renovation in Seenimodara, Tangalle — the same house where two bodies were discovered earlier today (22).
A third person, who was admitted to Tangalle Base Hospital, died shortly after admission. The body is now placed in the hospital morgue.
During the investigation, police also found over 200 kg of suspected ‘ice’ and heroin inside a lorry parked near the house.
In a separate raid, police intercepted another lorry in Tangalle and seized over 200 kg of suspected ‘ice’ and heroin. Five revolvers and a T-56 assault rifle were also recovered from the vehicle.
Additionally, police uncovered a gold-coloured T-56 magazine, 115 live bullets, a hand grenade, and a pistol — allegedly buried by former SLPP member Sampath Manamperi on land belonging to a friend.
