Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) Operations Chief Johnston Fernando says the biggest challenge facing the current National People’s Power (NPP) government is none other than the SLPP and its National Organiser Namal Rajapaksa.

He made this remark while attending the appointment ceremony of SLPP divisional organisers in the Kurunegala District.

“The main challenge for this government today is our party and Namal Rajapaksa. Everyone is saying Namal will be the next President. That’s what the whole country is talking about. But they can’t stop it by filing false cases or spreading lies. When they can’t maintain their own unity, they start talking about cases filed years ago against people like Tajudeen,” Fernando said.

He further stated that these actions are driven by fear of the SLPP.

“They are afraid of the Pohottuwa flag. That fear is good—keep that fear. It’s the fear we want. Everyone knows the SLPP is ready to return to power. So what are they doing now? Trying to suppress us, intimidate us. What’s happening in the country today is the law of the jungle, not democracy,” he added.
