Model Piumi Hansamali, who was questioned by the CID yesterday (21) over alleged links with underworld figure Mandinu Padmasiri Perera, alias Kehelbaddara Padme, said today (22) that her only connection with him was advising him to use her beauty products.
In a Facebook post following her police statement, Hansamali said she first met Padme four years ago in Dubai during a New Year celebration attended by several other actors and actresses.
“I went to a New Year celebration in Dubai in March 2022, and that’s where I first met this person named Kehelbaddara Padme, the one everyone’s talking about now. He was there with his wife and children, and even took photos with me. At that time, he said he also wanted to become fair and beautiful, so I told him to use my products. I think he probably did it — he really looked quite good after that,” she wrote.
Piumi Hansamali further said that CID officers had questioned her about possible financial dealings with Padme.
“Never, ever! I’ve never taken money from anyone involved in drugs, illegal businesses, or dirty money. I’m a woman who stood on my own two feet — I built my life myself. I have my own company. So I have no need for any underworld person’s money. I don’t want to get into trouble with that kind of crowd — I’m honestly scared of those things, I promise,” she added.
