Colombo Fort Magistrate Pasan Amarasena issued a warrant on September 30 for the immediate arrest and production before court of Thico Group owner Thilini Priyamali, who faces allegations of financial fraud.
The warrant was issued after the court established that two people presented as her sureties had provided bail in another case against her, rather than the case being heard.
Several other suspects also failed to appear when cases involving multiple financial fraud allegations against Priyamali and five others were called. Their sureties, however, attended court.
Counsel for another suspect, Janaki Siriwardena, informed the court that she was in remand custody in connection with a separate case.
Ven. Borelle Sirisumana Thera, who is on bail in connection with the matter, appeared before court and was granted permission to travel overseas following a request.
The Magistrate ordered that all cases against Priyamali and the other suspects be called again on March 31, 2027.
