Janasetha Peramuna Leader Battaramulle Seelarathana Thera was assaulted by a man in Weeragula this morning (2), according to Mawbima website.
The assault reportedly occurred at a temple in Warana, Attanagalla, during a discussion concerning the funeral arrangements of a devotee. An argument is reported to have arisen during the discussion.
The suspect fled following the incident.
Ven. Seelarathana Thero was admitted to the Gampaha Hospital for treatment, while Weeragula Police have launched an investigation.
