The Central Bank of Sri Lanka (CBSL) has called on the public to familiarise themselves with the new Rs. 2000 circulated commemorative currency note, issued on 29 August 2025 to mark the Bank’s 75th anniversary.

CBSL said Licensed Commercial Banks are currently calibrating their cash-handling machines to accept and dispense the new note. It will be gradually released into circulation through these banks as the process is completed.

The Bank urged the public to cooperate during this transition and assured that the note will be fully accommodated across all banking channels once the calibration process is concluded.
