Sri Lanka Women’s captain Chamari Athapaththu made history by becoming the first Sri Lankan woman to claim a hat-trick in T20 Internationals, producing a sensational bowling performance against Indonesia at the Women’s T20 Asia Cup 2026 in the UAE.
Athapaththu also registered her best T20I bowling figures, claiming seven wickets for just five runs as Sri Lanka bowled Indonesia out for 49.
Earlier, Sri Lanka posted 124, with Nilakshika de Silva coming to the team’s rescue after the defending champions struggled during the early stages of their innings. De Silva struck a crucial half-century to help Sri Lanka recover and set Indonesia a competitive target.
Indonesia were then bundled out for 49, with Athapaththu ripping through the batting line-up and writing her name into the record books—this time with the ball.
The victory marked Sri Lanka Women’s second win of the tournament.
