Colombo Uni Student’s Body Recovered After Disappearing in Port City Waters

A 24-year-old university student’s body who was reported missing while swimming near the artificial beach at Colombo Port City has been found.

The incident occurred on the morning of 26 June, when a group of students from the University of Colombo and the University of Moratuwa were engaged in snorkeling and observing the seabed in the area.

According to police, the student—a resident of Asgiriya, Gampaha—went missing during the activity. Following an extensive search operation involving the Navy, lifeguards, and police teams, the student was recovered. Further details regarding the condition of the individual have not yet been released. Investigations are ongoing.
