The Kesbewa Additional District Judge has issued a restraining order prohibiting protests and processions during the funeral of Ishara Harsha Kumara, who allegedly died following an assault while in custody at the Homagama Police Station.
The funeral is scheduled to take place today (29 October).
The order was issued following a request made by Kahathuduwa Police to the Kesbewa District Court yesterday (28 October).
The restraining order, which is valid for 14 days, was delivered this morning by a team of Kahathuduwa Police officers to the residence at 17th Lane, Moonamale, Kiriwaththuduwa, where Kumara’s remains have been placed.
The order was served on five individuals, including the deceased’s wife.
According to the court order, protests and processions that cause public inconvenience, damage to property or obstruction to vehicular traffic are prohibited along the main roads and byroads between the residence and the Galkanda Public Cemetery, where the funeral rites are scheduled to take place.
