The Supreme Court has fixed September 1 to consider petitions challenging the 22nd Amendment to the Constitution Bill presented to Parliament by the government.
Chief Justice Preethi Padman Surasena has appointed a five-member Supreme Court bench to hear the petitions.
The bench will be headed by Chief Justice Surasena and will also comprise Justices Achala Wengappuli, Arjuna Obeyesekere, Sampath Abeykoon and Gihan Kulatunga.
