The Colombo High Court ordered that the case against former Minister Duminda Dissanayake and a Kazakh woman over the alleged possession of a gold-plated firearm be taken up for trial on 23 November.

Dissanayake and his co-accused, Kazakh national Aigul Shergazina, appeared before Colombo High Court Judge Udesh Ranatunga when the case was called on 4 November.

After considering the submissions, the Judge fixed the case for trial on 23 November.

The Attorney General had indicted the defendants on charges of possessing a gold-plated firearm without a licence and aiding and abetting the offence at the Havelock City apartment complex in Wellawatte on 20 May 2025.
