Former President Gotabaya Rajapaksa has approached the Supreme Court, challenging a Court of Appeal decision that dismissed his writ petition seeking to prevent his arrest under the Prevention of Terrorism Act (PTA).

The legal challenge is linked to ongoing investigations into the 2019 Easter Sunday terror attacks.

The Inspector General of Police, the Director of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) and several other individuals have been named as respondents in the appeal.
