The Government of Sri Lanka has proclaimed a three-day national mourning period across 21, 22, and 23 August in tribute to legendary vocalist Visharad Dr. Nanda Malini, who passed away at the age of 82.
The official designation honors an artist whose six-decade career profoundly shaped the cultural and socio-political consciousness of the nation.
To accommodate the public wishing to pay final respects, the remains of the veteran singer will lie in state at the Nanda Malini Music Ashram in Nugegoda, commencing at 10.00 a.m. on Friday (21) until 3.30 p.m. on Saturday (22). Final funeral rites will take place on Saturday afternoon.
