The government has expressed interest in the services of the RDMNS Railway Network Organization (Ratawata Dumriya Mageenge Nila Sangamaya), a voluntary platform run by Sri Lankan railway commuters that provides real-time railway updates. This led to an official meeting on 5 March 2025 at the Information and Communication Technology Agency (ICTA) of Sri Lanka.

The session introduced RDMNS services to Deputy Minister of Digital Economy Eranga Weeraratne and explored potential collaborations to enhance railway digitization efforts.

During the discussion, the Deputy Minister praised RDMNS for its eight years of voluntary service and examined ways to integrate its platform with government initiatives. Key areas of focus included promoting the RDMNS mobile app to foreign tourists through Sri Lanka’s tourism industry and ensuring seamless access to railway information upon their arrival.

Additionally, the meeting covered plans to digitize Sri Lanka’s Railway Department under the State Digitization Project, with RDMNS contributing to this effort. The Ministry also considered exporting the RDMNS mobile app business model—believed to be globally unique—as a Sri Lankan innovation for use in other countries’ railway systems.

The meeting was attended by Deputy Minister Eranga Weeraratne, officials from the Digital Economy Ministry, and representatives from the RDMNS Railway Network Organization.
