Leader of the Pivithuru Hela Urumaya, Udaya Gammanpila, said that he will be releasing a set of documents today (9 June) related to the release of 323 containers from customs without proper inspection.

Speaking to the media today (9), Gammanpila said this will be the sixth such disclosure he has made to the public.

He emphasised that none of his previous revelations had been denied by the government, and added that he has never made any allegations without credible evidence.

“If the government is planning to jail me over a misused word or technicality, I want to make it clear—they cannot play such games with me,” he warned.

Gammanpila further revealed that certain officials connected to this incident are allegedly planning to leave the country. He said he hopes the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) will take steps to impose travel bans on those individuals.

Earlier this morning, Gammanpila appeared before the CID to provide a statement regarding the ongoing investigation into the release of containers from customs without proper inspection.
