It was just a few days ago that a 14 year old school girl from Ambadandemiya area in Bandarawela gave birth to a still born child.

The suspect, who has been arrested in connection with the rape, is to be produced before Welimada Magistrate’s Court. Police say further investigations are being carried out.

It is alleged that Sri Lankan health authorities turn a blind eye to early teen pregnancy- a problem that should be differentiated from the matter of general teen pregnancy.
