Ajith Prasanna found himself in the middle of a heated argument with actress Geetha Kumarasinghe during the Galle district coordininating committee meeting two months ago. Subsequently, he launched a hunger strike demanding  immediate removal of Kumarasinghe as the Benthara-Alpitiya electorate organizer for the UPFA. 

Police Media Unit told 'Asian Mirror' that Prasanna had allegedly assaulted a policeman who was on duty on the day of nominations. Soon after the incident, Prasanna had got admitted to a private hospital in Galle. The arrest was made at the private hospital where he was undergoing treatment, Police said.
