The Assistant Elections Commissioner for Gampaha has already lodged a complaint over the matter saying some of Dr. Karunaratne’s nominees are not even in the country at the moment. Dr. Karunarathne’s party is contesting for several districts at the forthcoming Western and Southern Provincial Council elections.

Commenting on the matter, a senior Police officer told ‘Asian Mirror’ that including false names and details in the nomination lists is a punishable offence.

Although our reporters attempted to contact Dr. Karunarathne on the ongoing investigations, he was not available to comment.
