Eight Students Who Took Photographs On Top Of Ancient Kiralagala Sthupa Remanded Till February 05

Eight students of the South Eastern University who took photographs on top of the historic Kiralagala Sthupa have been remanded till February 05. 

The students were produced before the Kebithigollewa Magistrate's Court this afternoon. 

The students were arrested by the Police after a strong public outcry against their sacrilegious act. 

When the students posted the photographs taken on top of the Kiralagala sthupa, it set off a firestorm of criticism. 

According to the initial police investigations, the students had taken the photographs during a trip to the ancient religious site.
