Police Say Rs. 78 Million Allocated To Remove Illegal Election Propaganda Material By Candidates

The Police Department said over Rs. 78 million had been allocated for the specific purpose of removing illegal propaganda material put by by General election candidates.

Laborers have been deployed across the country, under the supervision of the Police, to remove posters, cutouts and screens put by candidates running for the August 05 election.

The Elections Commission has banned the public display of posters, cutouts and preferential numbers of candidates forcing them to engage in more personalized election campaigns.

The Elections authorities have stated that the overall cost of the election will exceed Rs. 10 billion due to newly-adopted health and safety standards.
