A Tamil newspaper revealed today that former President Maithripala Sirisena has made 557 helicopter trips during his five-year term as President.

Tamil Mirror, through a Right to Infomation request, revealed today that Sirisena ad travelled a distance of 131,277.17 KM which is equivalent to circling the world three times.

Sirisena also came under severe criticism for renovating his Paget Road residence at an exorbitant cost and using his even after his retirement as the official residence.

Sirisena is now a contestant from the Sri Lanka Podujana Party (SLPP) for the Polonnaruwa District.
