Elections Commission Chairman Mahinda Deshapriya urged the public to cast their votes as every possible step has been taken to ensure the safety of voters.

"Even if there is a COVID19 patient among the voters, others won't contract the disease as strict health and safety measures have been put in place," he added.

According to official statistics, 16.2 milion voters are eligible to exercise their franchise at the Parliamentary election 2020 at 12,985 polling centres across the country.

Final results of the election are expected to be released before August 06 midnight.
