Communist Party of China stands ready to work with SLPP

The Communist Party of China (CPC) said yesterday that, it stands ready to deepen exchanges and cooperation with the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) to build a new type of party-to-party relations.

Acting Ambassador Hu Wei called on the Prime Minister at Temple Trees and said, “Beijing was glad to hear of your victory. Most sincere congratulations to you and your party. It must be the strongest government in history.”

Describing Prime Minister Rajapaksa as a “good and old friend” of Chinese President Xi Jinping, Ambassador Wei said, “Have confidence in our support.”

According to the Prime Minister’s Media Division, the congratulatory message said, “As China-Sri Lanka relations are presented with important new opportunities for further advancement, the CPC stands ready to deepen exchanges and cooperation with the SLPP to build a new type of party-to-party relations that seeks to expand common ground while reserving differences and enhances mutual respect and mutual learning, in a joint endeavor to elevate our bilateral relations to a higher level with greater development.”
