The Cabinet yesterday approved the proposal to construct three flyovers above railway lines across Uttarananda Mawatha and Judge Akbar Mawatha close to the Slave Island Railway Station, the government said.
Railway lines across Uttarananda Mawatha and Judge Akbar Mawatha cause heavy traffic congestions during peak hours.
Co-Cabinet Spokespersons and Minister Udaya Gammanpila said, the Cabinet has approved the proposal presented by Minister of Highways Johnston Fernando to implement this project and call bids from eligible local contractors for the construction of three flyovers under the project.
