PCR testing for journalists covering US Secretary of State’s press event

Media personnel who are assigned to cover the press event and bilateral meeting of US Secretary of State Michael Pomp, during his visit to Sri Lanka, have to undergo PCR testing.
Accordingly, Sri Lanka foreign Ministry has been tasked to arrange the media personnel for the coverage.

“Kindly note that the assigned officer will have to undergo PCR testing. …the Foreign Ministry will coordinate with the health authorities and inform the venue at which PCR testing needs to be done,” the ministry said in a statement to the media institutes last week.

Media coverage for the Bilateral Meeting and the Press Event to be held on Wednesday, 28 October 2020 at the Foreign Ministry from 10 am onwards.
Meanwhile, issuing another statement, the ministry said that Mr Pompeo will undertake an Official visit to Sri Lanka from 27 to 28 October 2020, on an invitation extended by his Sri Lankan counterpart, Foreign Minister Dinesh Gunawardena.

“During his visit, Mr. Pompeo will hold official discussions with the Lankan leadership as well as with his counterpart. The discussions during the visit will cover several areas of the multifaceted engagement between the two countries,” it said.

Secretary of State Pompeo is the highest-level US dignitary to visit Sri Lanka during the tenure of US President Donald Trump.
